1. THTR 365 Stage Make Up
Description: Introductory course in the basic principles of the art and techniques of theatrical makeup. Emphasis will be on both creative design and execution using a range of methods, mediums and styles. Fee: $65.
2. FA 310 The Fine Arts Through the Film Medium
Description: A study of the Fine Arts as they have been perceived and explored through the lens of both Narrative and Documentary Film Makers. Students will study various means to crafting a personal response to various Director’s approaches to capturing the Fine Arts in Film, as well as, crafting their own film about the Fine Arts. Course Substitutes for FA 207.
3. DNC 315 Jazz and Modern Dance
Description: Dance technique class. Emphasis on jazz and modern dance. Class includes warm-up, strengthening and stretching exercises, and combinations of movement and fundamental steps to music.
4. THTR 445 History of Fashion
Description: Surveys the history of fashionable dress from Ancient Egypt through the nineteenth century. Besides chronicling the changing styles, the class will explore the meaning of fashion in the broadest social context as it relates to the arts, theatre design and its function in society. The course will use an interdisciplinary approach examining fashion through a variety of research and sources.
5.HPE 117 Water Aerobics
Description: Development of strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and feelings of well-being through aerobics in the water.
6.THTR 430 Screenwriting
Description: Study of the aesthetics and techniques involved in the written dramatic form for video and film production. Emphasis upon writing, workshop critiques and discussion of student’s screenplays.
7.ECN 427 Sports Economics
Description: Applies microeconomic concepts to analyze contemporary issues in professional and college athletics. Topics include the role of sports in society, the structure of sports markets, franchises, entry barriers, contracts and compensation, media, financing of new stadiums, ticket pricing, and labor-management disputes.
8.CST 464 Feature Writing
Description: Instruction in writing feature stories. Students study, write, and critique a number of kinds of stories, including recollections, profiles, issue stories, travel and leisure features, and trend articles.Taught by a journalist from the Oregonion.
9.THTR 350 Theatre Crafts
Description: Introductory course for Theater majors that gives the student a foundation in the basic techniques, tools, and materials of construction for both scenery and costumes for the stage. You learn how to sew and build and even get to make stuff for yourself! (Non-majors by permission of instructor.) Fee: $40.
10. CST 402 Social Media and Cultures
Description: This course overviews relationships between computer-mediated communication (CMC) and several forms and functions of human activity. It explores how humans use computers to construct knowledge, relationships, and specific realities. Utilizing different social media applications and tools will help identify, explain, and understand interrelationships among CMC, language, and identities.
